Suwannee Bulldogs Get a Must-Win on Senior Night

Paul Langford Stadium is home to the Suwannee Bulldogs, and several Bulldogs said goodbye to their home as they received a proper sendoff.
On Friday night, the Godby Cougars entered Suwannee with hopes of spoiling the Bulldogs senior night. However, Suwannee pulled off the win 39-36 in dramatic style to give the seniors one last great memory.
“It's a memorable moment for me,” said senior quarterback, Tyree Taylor, “And plus the underclassmen played their butts off for the seniors.”
The underclassmen certainly stepped up tonight, “Well one, I'm happy for the seniors. I'm very proud of the underclassmen for how they played,” said head coach Kyler Hall.
Among the underclassmen that stepped up tonight was Jaquez Moore. Moore mad an impact on offense and defense. He had explosive runs throughout the game, including a long touchdown run in the first half to tie it up.
He also had one of the biggest plays at the end of the game. Tied at 36-36 with under four minutes left, Moore intercepted the Cougars to give the Bulldogs the ball for their game-winning drive.
While Taylor and coach Hall is thankful for what the younger players did on Friday night, the win would not have been possible without the seniors.
The success started up front with Michael Brown. The senior towered over everyone and was a big reason why Suwannee was able to bulldoze through Godby’s defense throughout the entire game.
“It's great. I get to come back here with nothing but good memories,” Brown said.
“Whenever I step out on this field I will remember this night,” Brown added. “It’s a great night for the guys, great night for players.”
Brown and his teammates relentless effort upfront paved the way for Taylor. Taylor ended the night with three touchdowns.
The night was not perfect for the Bulldogs, they trailed 28-21 at halftime with no sign of slowing down the Cougars offense that scored at will in the first half.
Cougars quarterback had a great game, connecting with receiver Avery Boyd twice and tight end Khalid Amir-Rashad once.
Running back Jacquez Yant also had a nice night fort the Cougars. He scored Godby’s first two scores and was a constant force in the run game.
However, the Bulldogs battled back in the second half, “Never lost focus throughout the entire game whether we were up or down,” coach Hall added. “They just kept playing kept playing kept playing, Unbelievable.”
Taylors third touchdown run gave them the lead after they converted the two-point conversion.
The Bulldogs scored five touchdowns. All running plays, and all from seniors. The last one came from DeMarius Thompson, who had number of big runs in this game.
The Cougars were able to tie the game in the fourth quarter, and possess the ball with time running out.
Moore’s late interception allowed the offense to march down the field and kick a field goal with only seconds remaining.
“It means everything, said senior Robert Robertson. “We tried our best at practice and this is what we needed.”
“This was a must win to keep our playoff hopes alive,” coach Hall added. “I'm just extremely proud of the way our guys played such a big game.
"It means a lot. We may get in the playoffs,” Taylor said.
Playoffs are no guarantee, but if the Bulldogs continue to play with the same amount of passion, then the seniors may get one more game in Paul Langford Stadium.
